University of Copenhagen offers the specialisation: Socio-Economics of Tropical Forestry.

 

The main aims of the programme are: 

  • to graduate individuals who have a thorough understanding of economics, in particular socio-economics, and are able to apply the theory to the sustainable management of forests and other natural resources in the tropics; emphasis is on natural forests and participatory management;
  • to develop students' intellectual, practical, numeracy, communication, information and communication technology (ICT), interpersonal/teamwork, self management and professional development skills, in a natural forest-specific context;
  • to equip students for a career in tropical forestry, development and other professions requiring an ability to synthesise concepts and ideas and to take a holistic view.
